Artist's Description
"Spiral" is an encaustic wax painting by JAC. Encaustic wax is an ancient and archival painting medium consisting of beeswax, resin (tree sap), and pigments. The medium is painted onto wood in layers, and each layer must be fused with heat before moving on to the next. Encaustic wax is so archival, that we have beautiful 2000 year old examples of fine art created with the medium. Research the FAYUM MUMMY portraits for more information.
