CONGRATULATIONS!! Featured on Women Painters. Great work! Love how you have done this!!!

Artist's Description

This Encaustic Wax painting, "Scout", was created using Beeswax, Tree Sap(Damar Resin), Lac Bug Secretions (Shellac), pigments (Oils, inks, and Powders), and a heat source (Blow Torch in my case). This very ancient medium is so archival that we have examples of beautiful portraits in wax that are over two thousand years old! Encaustic painting became a true Lost Art when oil paints came on the scene. That is, until Jasper Johns revived the art form in the 1950's.
I hope you enjoy my Organic Forms in Wax.
