This is a little encaustic wax painting of a flying squirrel that is occaisionally glimpsed in my backyard eating mushrooms. Encaustic wax is a thousands-of-years-old technique of painting with a mixture of beeswax, resin, and pigments.. then fusing the layers together with heat.
