"Tidal Pool #1" is an encaustic wax painting by JAC. It was inspired by long walks on the beautiful beaches and tidal inlets of Cape Cod.
Encaustic wax is an ancient and archival medium consisting of beeswax, tree sap, and shellac (the excretions of the Lac bug suspended in alcohol). Beautiful examples of encaustic wax fine art from over 2000 years ago are the Faiyum Mummy Paintings. Jasper Johns brought the "lost" art of encaustic back into vogue in the 1950's.
Jennifer Creech is a painter, sculptor, and photographer who lives and works on Cape Cod.
